Sustainable design from Amsterdam-Noord: our circular lamps at the Pop-up in Amstelveen

You don't buy a lamp for one season. You buy it for the atmosphere in your home, for years to come. That's why at Noord see Lights, in our studio in Amsterdam-Noord, we create lighting that is personal, locally produced, and made to last.

This summer you can find our lamps in a place that fits us perfectly: the Circular Pop-up in Stadshart Amstelveen. An initiative that shows that circular and local is no longer a future dream in our region but it's already happening.

Why we want to make lighting differently in Amsterdam-Noord

Most lamps are produced far away. The shape, color and material are already fixed. We think that's a missed opportunity, because lighting defines the feeling of your interior.

We do it the other way around. With our design tool, you design your own lamp. You choose the shape, pattern and color yourself. This way you create something that truly fits you, something you feel connected to. And what you co-created, you are less likely to throw away.

How we make it local and sustainable:

  • Locally produced, made to order: Every lamp is made in our studio in Amsterdam-Noord using 3D printing. No mass production, no unnecessary stock, minimal material waste.
  • Conscious materials: We constantly experiment with waste streams. We print with plant-based PLA, recycled PLA and biobased materials containing ground shells and algae.
  • Built to stay: No glue, but replaceable parts. Our lamps are designed so you can easily replace or repair the light source and components.

  • Our lamps at the Circular Pop-up in Amstelveen: Seevlam Wulk, Nonnetje and Korra in Seeschelp White.

More than a shop: making local sustainability visible

Sustainability becomes real when you can see and touch it. That is exactly what makes Stichting Circular Pop-up so powerful.

The foundation brings together circular entrepreneurs, designers and local residents at temporary locations across the region from Zaanstad and Amstelveen to Haarlem. You can not only view products, but also talk to the makers, feel the materials and discover what is already happening in your own neighborhood.

For us, it's incredibly inspiring to be there among other local makers. One works with reused textiles, another with recycled wood. We come from different crafts, but share the same question: how can we deal more consciously with what we already have?

That the approach works is clear. Stichting Circular Pop-up has been nominated for the national SDG Award 2026 as a Gamechanger. We are proud that as a brand from Amsterdam, we are part of this growing network of sustainable initiatives around Amsterdam.
