The Right Size and Positioning of Pendant Lights
Determining the right size for a lamp in your space can be challenging. Fortunately, there are a few guidelines that can help you choose the appropriate size, depending on the type of lighting you need.
Lamp Size
For a table where one or more pendant lights are being installed, it's generally recommended to choose a fixture with a maximum width of 50% of the table's total width. This ensures that the light creates a pleasant illumination pattern on the table without feeling too large. Ideally, the width of the lamp should be between 1/2 and 2/3 of the table width.
For example, if your table is 100 cm wide, you can opt for a lamp with a maximum width of 50 cm. The lamp should not be smaller than approximately 30 cm (around 1/3 of the table width).
If a single lamp doesn't achieve the desired size, you can use multiple lamps. The total width of the arrangement should still be between 1/2 and 2/3 of the table's width.

Breedte van de lamp dient minimaal 1/3 en maximaal 1/2 van de breedte van de tafel te zijn.
Spacing Between Individual Lamps
If you're hanging multiple similar lamps, a general rule of thumb for spacing is to leave a distance between them that is approximately equal to the diameter or width of one lamp. Of course, you can adjust this spacing to achieve a different look if desired.

The distance between the lights should be approximately equal to the diameter of the lamp.
Lamp Height
As a rule of thumb, a pendant light should hang about 75 cm to 85 cm above the tabletop, assuming a standard ceiling height of 2.3 m to 2.8 m. If your ceiling is significantly higher, you can hang the light slightly higher, but try to limit the height to a maximum of 90 cm above the tabletop to maintain a cohesive connection between the table and the lamp.
